Roger Umbaugh Community Investment Fund

Supporting loans that are invested in high-impact projects to create positive social impact alongside financial returns.

Roger Umbaugh, a Plymouth native, had a deep commitment to Marshall County and the economic growth and vitality of its communities.

Roger joined H.J. Umbaugh and Associates, a firm founded by his father in 1950, and would become its key principal. Umbaugh became the largest CPA firm in the U.S. that focused solely on financial management, capital planning, bond issuance and post issuance advising and consulting for municipalities, utilities, schools, libraries, counties and townships. In retirement, Roger was a founding board member for the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation. Roger also served as a Marshall County Community Foundation (MCCF) Board Member and on the Foundation's Investment Committee. He and his wife, Carol, believed in community investment. He was instrumental in orchestrating MCCF’s first foray into Impact Investing – a $500,000 loan to the Plymouth’s first New Market Tax Credit (NMTC) project. Roger's expertise and leadership were key to helping build a new childcare center, community pool and offices for the Foundation and United Way.

The Roger Umbaugh Community Investment Fund was established by MCCF in his memory to honor his commitment to the growth and prosperity of Marshall County. The Fund supports loans that are invested in high-impact projects to create positive social impact alongside financial returns.
